I’m the founder of Social Kat Media— but I’m also a social media strategist, mom of two, The Office fangirl (IYKYK), and your business’ biggest cheerleader. My mission is to make social media as simple, fun, and effective as possible for small business owners like you so you can get seen, form real relationships with your community, and (yep!) make more money.
Finding yourself scrolling for far too long looking for ideas? Let’s fix that.
In this week’s content breakdown, I’m giving you three different posts you can create and add to your content calendar right now. Each one is a different format and a different vibe, so you’ve got variety built right in. And they’re all designed to help you scroll less and sell more.
This first post is built around an evergreen trend that never really goes away. And for good reason. Sharing your bold beliefs and opinions is one of the best ways to differentiate yourself from other businesses in your industry, build trust with your audience, and attract the right people to your community.
The classic version of this trend is a b-roll reel with “Hills I Will Die On as a [your title]” as the text on screen, with a list of your bold beliefs in the caption. That format works great. But there’s a newer way to approach this that’s worth trying right now.
Enter: the video carousel.
A video carousel is exactly what it sounds like — a carousel post where each slide is a short b-roll video instead of a photo. Each clip is about five seconds long and loops while people read the text on screen. It gives you all the connection and readability of a photo carousel, with the added scroll-stopping power of video.
Here’s how to structure yours:
Your first slide is your hook. Follow this format:
Hills I Will Die On as a [your title] who [what makes you different]
A few examples to get you thinking:
If you serve a local area, this is a great spot to add your location too: “Hills I Will Die On as an Ottawa brand photographer who doesn’t offer mini sessions” immediately tells people who you are and where you are.
Your following slides (aim for four to seven) are each one hill you will die on. Think about what you believe that most people in your industry don’t say out loud. Those are your slides.
You can create this in Canva by downloading each slide individually as a video, or in the Edits app where each slide is its own five-second project. I filmed a full walkthrough of how I create video carousels in Edits. You can watch that here: https://www.loom.com/share/c29329dd06ca43c78bd6a5e19019f6e0

This one is so satisfying to watch. And easier to make than it looks.
The Wipe the Camera trend is a before-and-after reveal where the “after” appears once you wipe the lens. It’s a really simple concept with a big visual payoff, and it works whether you’re a product-based business or a service provider.
Some examples of how this could look:
The key to making this look good is keeping your phone in the same spot for both shots. A tripod is ideal, but a shelf with some books works too — get creative. The more consistent the angle, the more satisfying the transition.
Here’s how to film it:
Your caption for this one can be short. This is a great post for a direct call to action — tell people to book, buy, or reach out.

This last one is one of my favourite kinds of content: calm, cozy, and real.
The Rich Life post is a simple b-roll reel that reframes what “rich” looks like as a business owner. Not income or things but the small, everyday moments that make you think “this is it.” This is what it’s all for.
Think about the quiet moments in your day that you’d genuinely miss if you went back to working for someone else. The freedom, the flexibility, the community you’ve built. Those are your clips.

Your text on screen follows this simple format:
Rich in life because [the small thing that makes your life feel full]
A few ideas:
This can be one clip or a few clips stitched together. Keep it simple! Pick a slow-paced trending audio to match the vibe. And of course, I’m going to suggest a Taylor Swift song.
You’ve got three posts, three different formats, and three different ways to connect with your audience. Here’s your homework:
Block off some time in your calendar this week dedicated to creating, and go have fun with it. Share what you make with me on social @socialkatmedia. I love cheering you on!
