I’m the founder of Social Kat Media— but I’m also a social media strategist, mom of two, The Office fangirl (IYKYK), and your business’ biggest cheerleader. My mission is to make social media as simple, fun, and effective as possible for small business owners like you so you can get seen, form real relationships with your community, and (yep!) make more money.
If you’re a service provider or coach trying to grow on social media, you’ve probably wondered: should I be posting more education? More client wins? More behind-the-scenes? The answer might surprise you — because the content that builds trust fastest isn’t any of those.
It’s community content.
Community content is content that speaks directly to where your audience is right now — not in a broad, general way, but with the kind of specificity that makes someone stop scrolling and think, how does this person know exactly what I’m going through?
Think of it this way: instead of posting “tips for sleep-deprived parents,” a sleep consultant might post about the pit-of-your-stomach dread that hits at 7pm when bedtime is looming. One is informative. The other makes a parent feel seen. That’s the difference.
Why specificity is everything
Broad content doesn’t convert. When your content reflects your audience’s exact experiences — the specific words they use, the rituals they dread, the feelings they can’t quite name — it does two things at once: it builds instant trust and it gets shared, because people tag their friends in content that feels like it was written about them.
Where to find those specific words
You don’t need to guess. Look at your intake call notes, the comments on your posts, and even the comments on competitors’ content. What phrases keep coming up? What do people say they were feeling before they found a solution? That language is gold — use it directly in your content.
How it all fits together
Community content is your foundation — it brings new people to your profile and builds the emotional connection that makes everything else land. From there, your educational posts show your expertise, your storytelling builds your personal brand, and your client wins close the sale. But without that community layer pulling people in first, the rest of the content has no one to convert.
